Still Woozy - “Rocky”
Sven Gamsky, the man behind Still Woozy, has been producing indie-soul beats from his garage since 2017. And after a number of singles and an EP, Woozy dropped “Rocky” setting the tone for his upcoming debut album.
Woozy’s single “Window” from April was a savior during the early quarantine days, and his other recent single “BS” has also set high expectations for this project. He plays around with indie, almost electronic, beats, and neo-soul vocals; I’m hyped to see what Woozy will experiment with for his debut.
“Rocky” is an upbeat, modern jazz vibe. Like most of his tracks, this one is alternative at its core, but the synthy additions add a groovy and unique spin, transcending the confines of any one genre.
“Rocky” speaks to everyday worries and anxieties, putting all of that to the side in an effort to escape reality and just dream away. Life seems much more simple when we can doze off and create our own fantasies.
The single’s music video takes us through one of Woozy’s dreams, with some trippy visuals and dreamy, colorful scenery. We also get to see some of Woozy’s nighttime routine. I have come to realize these notably weird music videos that indie artists drop are subjectively some of the best.
Woozy produces all of his own music and co-directed this video with filmmaker Palmer Morse.
Woozy is extremely smart, creative, and playful. As an individual, he has a super cool, funky demeanor and it shows through in his music.
