Rap Rundown

If you’re anything like us, you were super geeked about the absolute flood of new music that released these last two weeks. Artists like Brockhampton, Polo G, Saweetie, Tee Grizzley, Lil Tecca, Iann Dior, Offset all released either projects or singles.

Brockhampton, led by Kevin Abstract, released a long awaited album Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine. The alt-rap group recruited A$AP members Rocky and Ferg, JPEGMAFIA, Danny Brown, and others to help round out their edgy, boundary-pushing project.

UK rapper IDK teamed up with the Migos’ Offset on the release of “Shoot My Shot.”

Up-and-coming rapper Iann Dior released a two-track EP Still Here, featuring tacks “don’t wanna believe” and “shots in the dark” featuring Trippie Redd. The project follows up the melodic rapper’s collaboration with EDM producer/DJ Illenium.

Rapper/singer Saweetie released third studio album Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1, supplying us with the bad bitch anthems for the warm weather and leaving the door open for some follow-up projects.

Among all the noise, this past Friday’s music drop was headlined by an album release from Young Thug’s Atlanta-based Young Stoner Life (YSL) collective. The project, Slime Language 2 (SL2), features the YSL roster, Young Thug, Gunna, Lil Durk, Lil Keed, Yak Gotti, Unfoonk and Lil Duke. In addition to the team, Thug taps Drake, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Kid Cudi and many others to make for a who’s who of rap stars.
