Paul McCartney made a feature only album – and it's worth listening to.

Sir Paul McCartney pushed out his 18th solo album in December 2020 -– McCartney III. This April, he gave us it re “imagined.”

McCartney III Imagined fully reworks his 2020 album from top to bottom. Every track from the project features a true imaginative artist from the modern alt-rock or R&B world.

To give a backdrop of the original album, Pitchfork explained it as “unlike its predecessors, it didn’t really showcase any new musical obsessions or curiosities that allowed us to see its creator in a new light.”

The motive behind McCartney III Imagined was so that Paul McCartney can present himself to fans like they’ve never experienced the legend before; alongside a skilled group of young visionaries like Phoebe Bridgers, Blood Orange, Dominic Fike, and Khrurangbin.

The predecessor of Imagined enters alternate universe levels – in a good way.

The top songs of the album in no particular order are:

  1.  Anderson.Paak’s remix of “When Winter Comes”

  2.  Blood Orange’s rework of “Deep Down”

  3.  Khrurangbin’s feature on “Pretty Boys”

  4.  Phoebe Bridgers’ “Seize The Day”

  5. “Long Tailed Winter Bird” remixed by Damon Albarn

  6. “Find My Way” feat Beck

All of the renditions feel like standalones, and are instantly recognized as a song made by the artist featured. The beauty of this project is seeing a legend facilitate the new generations of icons to produce music through one channel of art.

Listen for some fun and beauty; there’s not much more we all need.
