Slowthai dropped some intense bars and a music video to prime fans for his upcoming project, TYRON. Working alongside A$AP Rocky, James Blake, Skepta, Dominic Fike, Denzel Curry and more, this highly anticipated album is set to release on February 5th.

“Thoughts” is not on the 14-song track list of TYRON, but Slowthai is giving us a look into what this project is going to be about. “I am far from perfect, but I’ve learnt a lot about myself while creating this album and I will continue to grow into a better person for myself and aim to be a reflection of what I want to see in this world. It’s OK to be yourself, fuck everything else.”

Slowthai unpacks a lot on this new single.

He raps about personal battles with his biracial identity and recent mental health struggles during the pandemic. He also touches on growing up poor and his old habits of drug dealing and usage.

“Been a statistic, caught in a system, constantly wishin'
No one will hold me back, that's why I sold crack
Too black for the white, too white for the black”

The strong Northampton accent flows well with the fast, grime rap in “Thoughts.” Grime originated in London in the early 2000’s; it’s a genre of electronic music that developed out of UK dance and garage styles. Slowthai drops some magnificent lyrics, adding punk rap to these sick beats.

We are really looking forward to hearing what Slowthai is going to share on TYRON. This was a fire single, and not just because everything sounds better with an accent.

If you want to hear more though-provoking content from Slowthai, definitely check out “nhs,” a song dedicated to the UK National Health Service, and “feel away," one of our favorite releases of 2020.
