Songs You Would Have Skipped

Lots of gems dropped over the last two weeks. Here are some of my favorites:

Peach Tree Rascals “LEAVE ME”

Peach Tree Rascals are back with a dreamy, rap & soul driven track – a surprising addition to their mainly alternative/ alt-pop discography. The song’s about holding on tight to a relationship, singing “Know you wanna leave me but please don't let me go.”

Brittany Howard, Fred again.. and Joy Anonymous -  “Stay High again..”

Brittany Howard is an absolute legend. If you’re not familiar with her show-stopping voice, allow me to introduce you. Howard is the former lead singer and guitarist of the Alabama Shakes and has forged her solo career over the last year and a half. She’s up for 5 different Grammys this year and will be taking the stage for a performance at next week's ceremony. 

Acclaimed producer Fred again.. Took a very acoustic, slow groving track and made it a lively, dancefloor-ready gem with guest vocals from both Fred again.. and Joy Anonymous. He’s fresh off his recent collaborations with FKA twigs, Jamie XX, Julia Michaels and Jessie Reyez, and this is yet another killer re-imagination. 

808vic, Ictooicy and ria of mars - “Vibe Session 2”

Hearing 808vic’s single “Overstayed” is actually what inspired me to start this Songs You Would Have Skipped article series. I’d never heard of him before but his music was featured in a playlist I regularly listen to and it captured my attention immediately. His latest single is equally as wavey and melodic, living up to the song title. 808vic tapped Ictooicy & ria of mars, fellow underground indie rap artists for verses over unique instrumentals. 

C. Tangana, Toquinho - “Comerte Entera” 

This is the vibey Spanish song you need in your life. Recorded in Madrid, C. Tangana has delivered a sensual, easy listen that translates to “eat you whole.”
