Pop Smoke’s posthumous acting debut and new single out now
Since Pop Smoke’s death in a home invasion last February, his team has continued to release his previously recorded projects for fans to rave about.
Pop Smoke’s latest release, “AP ” dropped as the lead single on the soundtrack for Boogie and has been voted number one on Billboard's new music poll, ultimately continuing the rapper's successful legacy.
Boogie, a film released on Friday, tells the story of Alfred “Boogie” Chin, a Chinese basketball player who grew up in Queens, New York.
The film features Pop Smoke’s acting debut as an antagonist named Monk, a rival player who sets out to beat Boogie. The album's soundtrack includes tracks from Polo G, Five Foreign, Jacquees and more.
Pop Smoke’s posthumous single follows the typical beat and style that so many adore from the rapper. The song boasts about all of his relationships with women and his luxurious possessions.
The title “AP” cleverly stands for Audemars Piguet, a designer watch brand from Switzerland, to further brag about the expensive weaponry and jewelry he owned.
Director of Boogie, Eddie Huangs, spoke about Pop Smokes contribution to the film in an interview with the New York Times stating that Pop Smoke gave him “a thousand percent” and that the crew often enjoyed blasting his music in between long hours of filming.
All we can do is hope for more unreleased Pop Smoke music to surface, because this single definitely reminds all of us how talented this up-and-coming rapper really was.
