“Somewhere Else” - Louis The Child with BabyJake
Despite an extremely weird year for the music industry, 2020 was a year of many highs for Louis The Child. They released a full-length album, a mixtape, and a handful of singles and remixes.
Starting this year with the same energy, the dynamic duo teamed up with BabyJake for their new single “Somewhere Else.” Louis The Child’s electronic rhythm sounds great with BabyJake’s “urban pop” vibe, a term he coined himself.
“Somewhere Else” is a feel-good song about the endless road to self-discovery. Regardless of how composed our lives may seem, it’s really okay to feel lost. The message is that there’s always somewhere else to go – even if you're not lost at all.
Both Louis The Child and BabyJake had some really wholesome thoughts on their new track.
“Life is full of ups and downs, moments where you’re completely here and times where you feel lost or detached,” Louis The Child said. “Making this song with Jake felt therapeutic in a way. We could hear him addressing his current mental state and some of the moments that lead him here.”
BabyJake shared that the track is “sort of a self-reflection of my truth. When I say I’m ‘somewhere else’ I’m really saying ‘all I really wanted to do was get here [hollywood/my dream], and now that I’m here I realize I’m still lost.’ So to all the people who feel lost, it’s not just you…I’m living my dream and still searching for that somewhere else.“
The music video is very visually appealing and intensifies the theme of the song. The typical colorful landscapes of Louis The Child suites the playful energy of all three of these guys.
Each week when new music drops, it never fails to amaze me. It heals, communicates, and brings so many people together. I admire artists like BabyJake who share such personal messages in their music, assuring that no one is alone and no one is perfect.
Louis The Child continues to kill it in 2021, and BabyJake has his debut album in the works. I’m really here for this collaboration and I can’t wait to overplay “Somewhere Else” for the next couple of weeks.
