Doja Cat and SZA - “Kiss Me More”

We’ve been blessed with not only a single, but also a music video from Doja Cat and SZA; and they take it intergalactic. 

Set at a desert oasis from a distant planet, Doja and SZA are aliens that deliver the first taste of summer ‘21 hits. “Kiss Me More” is a single off the forthcoming Doja Cat album Planet Her, and we can visualize her idyllic pink world in this collab project. 

SZA slayed us with every release dating back to CTRL, and I have loyally replayed all her tracks since 2017. However, Doja Cat is newer on the scene. She is quickly rising to the A-list of Pop stars, though.

TikTok carried her to the #1 spot on the charts with “Say So” and she’s been featured on tracks with superstars like Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, and Saweetie. 

The last minute of the music video is probably the best of “Kiss Me More.” Our two aliens, SZA and Doja, are just playing video games on the couch and the audience is transformed to just another one of their friends.

I love when fans get a sense of their favorite artist’s true personality. And If there was any celebrity I wish I could rot on a couch with, I think it would probably be SZA.  

As far as the mechanics of the song, we’re pretty much getting a summer pop song. However, the down tempo in the back feels fresh and ~almost~ disco vibes. Doja has such a great rap and singing voice, she transcends the traditional pop genre.

“Kiss Me More” is perfect for a hot day by the pool with a juicy drink in hand.
